B A B B E L I N G S

This was my attempt at a cute animal something or other. I could't get the idea of a cat with nine tails, out of my head.  That led to a group of animals that each had a number on their belly.   I like it's simple contour lines. I also decided they would all have masks, not sure why but I liked the way it looked.  I've always drawn this way, in a very linier way, flat and cartoon like.  Influenced by too any comic books as a child. I have a whole set of characters like this.  

I remember my afternoons as a teenager.  As school ended and I'd walk home alone.  My younger brother went to another school and someone would go pick him up, an aunt, a cousin or a friend.   This let me have some much needed alone time.  It was always quiet when I got home.  A time when I was alone and could do what I wanted and be with my own thoughts.  It usually, and still does, mean watching TV.  I loved to sit with a PB&J and watch Batman.  I obsessed over the show and had almost every related toy you could think of.  I couldn't resist the colors, the music and the groovy way it was done. But the best thing to ever happen was "Batgirl". She was fabulous.  I mean think about it, a bookworm by day and a crime fighter by night.  I could do that.   So began my love for Batgirl an my full on gay coming to the surface.  I remember wanting to be Batgirl, one year for Halloween and like that old Charlie Brown...

Another of the postcard series, I wanted a simple black and white drawing of a face.  I was reading an article on Dali and here it is.                                       I think I may have captured the uniqueness of the man.  I did make some crazy eyes :-)    I particularly like the way I did the hair.  It has alot of volume and fullness.  Not sure what the background is about.  I got into the pattern and just let it happen. I want to do more of these type drawings. I used to hate the way I draw but I've grown to enjoy the process and how my drawings grow change and turn out.
